Annie Puybareau

Born in Paris in 1955, Annie Puybareau began to draw at a young age.  Her family settled in Rouen (Normandy) and there she learned to paint with Robert Savary (National Marine Painter) in the fine art school in town.  Sensitive to nature, Puybareau works “en plein air”, in weather akin to Rouen School of Post Impressionists.  She is a painter of marines, with an admiration for Boudin’s skies and Monet’s seas.  Annie Puybareau paints Seine sides, Norman beaches lively with walkers, colorful ports, and chalked cliffs.  Her technique is based on her knowledge of drawing and balance of color.  Puybareau’s paintings are bright, and definite with contrasting light and shadows.  Words of the artist: “Nothing is taken for granted, all is to be discovered, and that is fascinating.”  Painting depicts moments of life and Annie’s emotions are reflected in her work.
